Last Minute Club Change was the Right Choice
Chad Heffner and friends were golfing in the annual UAW Local 1219 Outing at Bluffton Golf Club in Bluffton, OH. The day was perfect for a round of golf: 80-85 degrees with no wind. Heffner is one of the organizers of this event, and he can typically get pulled in several different directions. However, once the event started, he was able to join up with his teammates for what would be a very memorable day of golf.
Reineke Ford Lincoln of Lima was the hole in one sponsor for the tournament that day. They are a great community partner and have helped with the last three outings that the UAW Local 1219 has hosted. Reineke was sponsoring a two-year lease on a brand-new Ford Fusion.
When Heffner and his group approached the the 9th hole, they saw the hole in one challenge for the Ford Fusion. Heffner was the last one to tee off and recalls, “Just as I walked to the tee with what I thought was the right club, my walkie-talkie went off. It was my friend, Doug Collins, on another part of the course asking about a ruling on someone else’s shot on hole 9. After making that ruling, I thought about where the other guy’s ball landed and what club they used. With that, I quickly changed clubs.”
It’s a good thing he did! Heffner continues, “I hit a long shot, and it hit the right side of the green and rolled down to the hole. Everyone started cheering! It was a great day, and I had to buy Doug a beer when I got to the club house since he made me re-think my club selection.” What a lucky change of plans!
This was Heffner’s second hole in one to date. His first was with his grandpa who taught Heffner to golf and bought him a basketball to celebrate his first hole in one. Heffner shares, “At the time, I thought the basketball was great. Now, I have a new hole in one prize to be thankful for! We lost my grandpa just before the tournament, so I took my golf ball from this hole in one and put it in his coffin.”
Heffner couldn’t say enough about his positive experience working with Madalyn, Levi, and Matt from Reineke Ford Lincoln of Lima. He was so impressed with his new car and the dealership that after his hole in one win for the Fusion, he went back and purchased a Ford Edge for his wife! The team at J.
