Keeping Tradition Alive
It is always a great day to golf, but when it is for good cause, it is even better. The day was sunny and warm, and Gleneagle Golf Club was in great shape for the Georgetown Harmony Homes Charity Outing. The charity provides affordable Christian home environments for adults experiencing developmental disabilities. Currently, they have two homes supporting twelve individuals.
The event featured a hole in one giveaway on the 11th hole, which was sponsored by Van Andel & Flikkema Chrysler Jeep for a two-year lease on a brand-new Jeep Renegade. Van Andel & Flikkema is community-driven dealership and very supportive of local charities.
Thomas Elhart was asked by some of his friends in the banking industry to golf in this outing. Elhart said that he was looking forward to golfing in this tournament since he had not golfed this course in 20 years. Hole 11 was the group’s last hole of the day. “I used my 8 iron and hit a good shot,” Elhart recounts. “My friend Blake called it a ‘pin seeker.’ We watched it bounce gently on the green and roll to the hole. We all started cheering and clapping.”
While most of us will never score a hole in one, Elhart has sank an amazing four hole in one shots in his 50 years as a golfer: two of them in Holland, Michigan; one in Hudsonville, Michigan; and one in Ireland. This talent must run in the family, as his father also won a car in 1983! Elhart is keeping the hole in one tradition alive.
Elhart spoke highly of Van Andel & Flikkema saying, “they were so easy to deal with. My wife has always wanted a Jeep Wrangler, so they let us pay a little extra and upgrade to the Wrangler. My wife is really enjoying her Jeep and can’t wait for warmer weather so that she can go joy riding with her hard top off and the wind in her hair!”
It sounds like a great experience all around! The team at J. Ryder Group / Auto Dealers Hole in One Program could not be happier for Thomas and the great folks at Van Andel & Flikkema.
