Hole in One Winner

How Teague Chevrolet Gained a Loyal Customer with a Hole in One Sponsorship

Pictured here is the lucky winner, Craig Vick (second from right) and his energetic playing partners!

Craig Vick had been playing golf most of his life when he registered to play in the annual Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout at Mystic Creek Golf Club. Proceeds from the event go to HOPE Landing, a local charity in El Dorado that assists children and young adults up to the age of 21 who have physical or cognitive disabilities. The tournament, presented this year by Pepsico, was in its 36th year, when Craig made a Hole in One to win a Chevy Silverado presented by Teague Chevrolet.

This was not Craig’s first time playing at Mystic Creek or in the Shootout. His good friend from college works for Murphy USA, so he tries to play with him there at least once a year. Craig is a Chief Financial Officer for Colliers International, which is a global real estate company, and this was the second year they had a team in the tournament, which Craig describes as “top-notch.”

Craig’s dad was a high school golf coach, so Craig starting playing the sport early in life. “I remember tagging along with him to the driving range when I was around six years old.” Having played for so many years, Craig has made a hole in one before. However, that didn’t make this one any less exciting!

The weather was ideal for the tournament. Craig describes, “We couldn’t have asked for a better day to play golf – perfect temperature and blue bird skies.” Mystic Creek would not be described as an easy course. Hole 4 (the Silverado prize hole) in particular is the second longest par 3 on the course with a ridge that divides the green. If Craig had ended up on the wrong level, it would have been even more difficult to sink the hole.

Craig notes, “If you happened to land to the left of the pin, you would probably end up with a 30 to 40 foot putt. Lucky for me, that day my shot landed on the right side of the pin, and my ball caught the slope just right, feeding it into the hole.” Craig loves his new Silverado and says, “There isn’t much more in a truck that you could ask for.” What a lucky day!

The Team at J. Ryder Group could not be happier for Craig and the great folks at Teague Chevrolet! What an exciting event at a tournament for such a great cause.
