Good things really do happen to good people!
Tim MacTurk is one of those good dads that is always trying to lead by example for his three daughters. One of MacTurk’s daughter had a classmate that developed a rare incurable brain stem tumor and lost her battle very quickly. When their neighbor was setting up for the annual Christmas light show that has folks coming for miles around, Tim and his wife thought it was a great opportunity to help. His girls were very touched and saddened with Maddie’s passing and wanted to do something to help.
Mom and Dad helped the girls with a Hot Chocolate stand on the weekend nights to raise money in Maddie’s honor. The money goes to the foundation, Maddie’s Mark that was set up in Maddie’s honor to provide child enrichment, scholarships and Best Days ever which supports children suffering from major illnesses and provides support to their families. This year they were able to raise $2,110.10 for the family, up from the $1,400 raised the year before.
It is always wonderful to see good things happen to good people like Tim MacTurk! On the last day of September 2019, it was a warm overcast day and by New York’s standards it was good day. The Falling Leaves golf tournament was being held to support the Scotia-Glenville Lion Club. Organizer Josh Poupore had gone to his local Ford dealer, Morris Ford and asked the owner Charlie Morris if he would once again sponsor the event as they had done every year.
Charlie and Morris Ford are great community supporters. The tournament was almost over and team 8 saved the best hole for last, it was hole number 7 and it was at 171 yards for a chance to win a 2-year lease on a Ford F-150! Tim MacTurk was the 2nd one in his foursome to hit. Tim said that he wasn’t having a good day with his irons and normally he would have used his 4 iron but decided to go with his 5 wood for the shot.
Tim’s shot was a high slice, it bounced on the green and into the cup. This is MacTurk’s second Hole In One and he said that he is not a very good golfer, but he had the right stuff that day. So, a huge congratulations to Tim MacTurk and Charlie Morris and the staff at Morris Ford for making this day possible.
